Copyright

Copyright is an important asset of many businesses both nationally and internationally. Copyright is often said to protect the expression of ideas or information − but it doesn’t protect the ideas or information itself.

An often cited example is a work of fiction or novel - in that case, the text is protected by copyright but not the plot or ideas behind the plot. Similarly if a business has a product that has a unique or creative design, copyright might be the key to stopping a competitor imitating or copying that work. It is a way of proclaiming rights over your work although, it would not stop someone else independently producing the same or a very similar work.

We can assist you in taking action against infringers of your copyright. This might include a third party infringer copying, performing, selling or communicating a work, without proper authorisation or a licence in New Zealand, Australia and in most countries abroad.

We work with our clients to provide cost-efficient advice and a clear strategy around the copyright dispute process. We are familiar with technology companies that provide image right protection services e.g. SmartFrame a supplier that provides secure, protected streamed images and revenues for image owners.
