Domain Names
A domain name gives you an online presence, which is essential in a modern world. Without a domain name most businesses could not function in the online environment. Consumers or businesses will locate the website often through the domain but increasingly through search engines, social media or A.I. tools.
Most businesses secure a distinctive trade mark or trading name first, and then stake their claim to a domain name. If it is available you usually register the domain name through a domain name registrar (who might also provide a hosting service) and then you can link it to a website and email. We also have experience in making anonymous approaches to domain name vendors in order to acquire the domain at a reasonable cost.
We have experience advising on enforcement action with domain name squatters or trolls. We have pursued multiple actions under the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) before the World Intellectual property Office (WIPO) and through national domain registriy procedures (e.g. .co.uk and .co.nz which both have similar procedures). We have the experience and expertise to assist clients in enforcing their rights over their domain names.
